Initiated by Banu Cennetoğlu in 2006, BAS was an artist(s)-run, non-profit initiative in Istanbul dedicated to the collection, exhibition, production, and distribution of artists’ publications and printed matter. Between 2006 and 2009, the Bent artists’ book series was published in collaboration with Philippine Hoegen. Its artist-run library housed more than 1,500 artists’ books, publications, periodicals, and other printed matter by artists and artist collectives. Following a collaborative period with Yasemin Nur and Seçil Yersel between 2016 and 2019, BAS was run by Aslı Özdoyuran and Marina Papazyan from 2021 to 2025.
BAS closed its space in Karaköy in April 2026, donating its collection of 1,529 items, together with its shelving, to the Fındıklı Library of Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University.
